In a statement, Gertens said the fire was quickly contained and no other buildings on the lot suffered major damages: We have not determined the exact cause of the fire yet, but we do know that it began in one of our greenhouses that contains growing media and that it did not spread any further thanks to the quick action by brave local firefighters and first responders from Inver Grove Heights Fire Department, Mendota Heights Fire Department, South Metro Fire, Rosemount Fire Department Station 2, Inver Grove Heights Police Department, the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, and many, many others! The garden center will open for normal hours Monday.
