My name is Karl and I'm a 62 year old songwriter guitarist/singer that just moved to Morro Bay. I'm looking for local musicians to get together and record songs and play local gigs. I would love to form a duo or be in a band to play local gigs in Morro Bay when Covid is gone for good and things get back to normal. I've been writing since my mid 20's and have quite a collection of songs I would love to record and play out live. I'm looking for someone with shared musical tastes that would be into collaboration, songwriting, arranging, recording and playing the local restaurant scene. My favorite artists/influences range from The Beatles, The Byrds, and Simon & Garfunkel to Big Star, Tom Petty, The Jam, The Replacements/Paul Westerberg and Wilco. I'm into melodic power pop/alternative type rock with lots of harmony and electric 12 string guitar! I also write and play surf instrumentals. I hoping to find musical partners out there with similar interests and musical tastes that can also sing lead or harmony vocals, and play guitar, bass, keyboards, or drums. My ultimate goal is to find 2 or 3 like minded folks and form a trio or band and record and play casual gigs around town (a mix of originals and cover tunes). It's important that you have similar musical tastes as I'm not really that interested in playing top 40, blues, bluegrass, country, or hard-rock covers. I've just relocated to Morro Bay and have a pretty nice recording set up in my house with some excellent recording gear. If you are experienced in working with Pro Tools or Logic - even better! I was recently in an acoustic trio in Santa Cruz called the Aquacats for several years and I've got a few video links of some of the songs we played including several of my originals.
