Hey Beekeepers and future Beekeepers! DRB Beekeeping and Supplies and Western Dakota Technical College is happy to announce the following 2020-2021 Fall/Winter/Spring Beekeeping Class Schedule! Classes will be limited to 10 students and COVID measures will be implemented to ensure the safety of our students. Bee suit and gloves will be needed to participate in hands-on sessions. Registration can be done on the Western Dakota Technical College website: . Cost for all classes is $45.00. All classes will be conducted on the Western Dakota Technical College Campus in Rapid City, SD. Please pass this on to anyone interested in becoming a beekeeper or to any bee-buyers you might know!! September Bee-ginners Class dates will be 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 24. Saturday September 19 will be a hands-on session using hives in the WDTC Apiary. Classes will be from 6:30 - 9:00 pm each night and the Saturday Session 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Bee suit and gloves will be needed to participate in hands on sessions. October Bee-ginners Class dates would be 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 22 with Saturday 17 October being a hands-on session using hives in WDTC Apiary. Classes will be from 6:30 - 9:00 pm each night and the Saturday Session 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Bee suit and gloves will be needed to participate in hands on sessions. January 2021 Natural Beekeeping Class dates will be 19, 20, 21. Focus is on beekeeping using methods in line with how honey bees live in the wild. Classes will be from 6:30 - 9:00 pm each night. No hands-on session. February 13, 2021 The 2nd Annual "Buzz in the Black Hills." Conference themes will be on sustaining your apiary and natural beekeeping. Graduates of the Bee-ginners Course and Natural Beekeeping Class will receive a discount price to attend conference. POSTPONED Due to COVID Concerns. May 2021 Advanced Beekeeping 19, 20, 21, 22 with hands on session 22 May. Focus on Hive Splitting techniques, Deliberate Inspections, Pest management and treatments. Classes will be from 6:30 - 9:00 pm each night and the Saturday Session 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Bee suit and gloves will be needed to participate in hands on sessions. Must be a graduate of Bee-ginners Course to attend.
