DANVERS, MA — One week after celebrating the 35-year career of retiring Danvers Police Chief Patrick Ambrose, the department and the town are mourning his death. Danvers police told the community of Ambrose's passing on Saturday night. The Danvers Police Department is heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of recently retired Chief Patrick Ambrose. Chief Ambrose served this department and the Town of Danvers for over 35 years.— Danvers Police Dept (@DanversPolice) January 17, 2021 It was eight days ago that Danvers police held a cruiser and fire engine parade in honor of Ambrose's last day, followed by Ambrose's son, Patrolman Patrick Ambrose Jr.'s touching final call wishing his father congratulations on his retirement: "Dad, you served the department and town with nothing but pride, professionalism and respect throughout your career. The town of Danvers, the police department and your family are all thankful for everything you've done. "I've always looked up to you as a mentor and a role model, and it was always my goal to follow in your footsteps and become a police officer. I am thankful for everything you've done for me and I've been lucky to have been able to work for you these last four years. I can speak for everyone when I say that you will be missed deeply here at the station. ... "On behalf of the Danvers Police Department, thank you for everything, congratulations and enjoy your retirement. You've earned it." Rest Easy Chief.
