HICKSVILLE, NY – A Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million was sold at a Long Island deli, the New York Lottery said in announcing the results of Friday night's drawing.
The lucky ticket, which matched all five winning numbers and missed just the Mega Ball, was sold at Hick's Piccolo Gourmet Deli at 99 Levittown Parkway in Hicksville. Seven other $1 million winning tickets were sold nationwide, but no one hit the $750 million jackpot. The jackpot for next Tuesday night is $850 million, the third largest lottery jackpot ever.
The winning numbers for Friday's drawing were: 3-11-12-38-43, Mega Ball 9. The second-prize winning ticket sold on the island was a "Quick Pick," meaning the numbers were picked at random by the lottery terminal.
Tickets for Mega Millions cost $2, or $3 with the Megaplier option. Players pick five numbers from 1-70, then pick a Mega Ball number between 1-25. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350. The overall chances of winning any prize are 1 in 24. Find a local retailer. You can also buy tickets from your phone now using a new app.
