ELMHURST, IL — A man was injured as two men attempted a carjacking about 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Elmhurst, police said in a news release.
The victim was in the driveway of his house in the 500 block of North Emroy Avenue when the men approached him, displayed a handgun and demanded the victim's car, police said.
The victim was struck with the gun, and a struggle ensued between the victim and the suspects, according to the news release. Police said the victim got the gun, which turned out to be a replica.
The victim suffered minor injuries, and the suspects were unable to take his car, police said. The suspects were reported as leaving in a silver 2019 or 2020 Toyota RAV 4, heading south on Van Auken Street.
The suspects were described as black, in their 20s, having thin builds, and wearing all black clothing and surgical masks. One suspect had white stripes on the side of his pants, police said.
