BURR RIDGE, IL — In the last week, Burr Ridge saw an increase of 43 new coronavirus cases, for a total of 870, according to health authorities. That represents a 5.2 percent increase, higher than the previous week's 4.7 percent.
The virus has infected 8.1 percent of the town's population.
Of local coronavirus victims, the mortality rate is 3.7 percent. Since the start of the pandemic, the village has had 31 coronavirus deaths, most of them at nursing homes. One of those deaths was last week.
As of Sunday, Burr Ridge had 80.9 coronavirus cases per thousand people, among the worst of its surveyed neighbors. The figure compares to 60.1 in La Grange Park, 61.5 in Darien, 63.3 in Western Springs, 66.1 in Hinsdale, 70.7 in DuPage County, 72.1 in Elmhurst, 74.3 in Clarendon Hills, 77.9 in suburban Cook County and 87.4 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,064,667, up 4 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 18,179 state residents.
Nationally, 23.7 million people have caught the virus, up 7.5 percent from the week before. A total of 394,495 people have died from the virus in the United States.
