Scouts are invited to attend and earn 1 of 5 merit badges offered on this day! Farm Mech & Truck Trans is a combo event for 2 badges. Universal Technical Institute (UTI) will be hosting a SCOUTS BSA MERIT BADGE FAIR on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 8:00am - 4:30pm located at our Houston, TX campus. Under the supervision of Merit Badge Counselors, our UTI licensed Automotive and Collision Instructors will be conducting hands-on, classroom and lab instruction for scouts to earn a merit badge. DROP OFF & SIGN IN for the day begins at 8AM under our Outdoor Pavilion, main parking lot. Opening Ceremony takes place at 8:30 then scouts will be dismissed to classrooms for Merit Badge work. PICK UP between 4 -4:30. All SCOUTS, Troop Leaders, Parents and Staff must wear an appropriate face covering over nose and mouth for the duration of the day while on premises. Appropriate hand washing and social distancing will be in place as well as CDC, Texas Education Association and state/local safety precautions. Contactless temp scans are also part of our admittance protocol. Parents, since this event involves HANDS ON work in labs and with our equipment, there will be times when your scout may be less than 6' from another individual. If this lab setting is not something you are comfortable with please reconsider attendance at this time. Classes offered this day are as follows: Automotive, Electronics, Welding, Truck Transportation, and Farm Mechanics. This will be an all-day participation event with 1 badge earned per scout, with the exception of Truck Transport and Farm Mechanics which is a combo class with 2 badges earned for the day. Purchase your ticket TODAY to reserve your spot as space is limited within each class! Dress Attire: TROOP Activity Shirt and JEANS - LEGS MUST BE COVERED! No Open toed shoes or sandals, tennis shoes will be fine. Bring Light Work Gloves, Safety Goggles Lunch and Drinks will be Provided (Vegetarian options for this day, but our supplier may not be able to support specialty food requests). MUST BRING Your BLUE CARD from your approving authority or scout master MUST bring/wear appropriate mask or face covering to participate. PARENTS: You are welcome to stay for a tour of our campus. Tours will begin immediately following opening ceremonies. Parents/guests will be required to wear face coverings while on premises and during tours and will be subject to our screening guidelines, to include contactless temp scans. If you or your scout / other family member are sick or have any Covid related symptoms, we ask you to please refrain from attending on this day.
