Free, 2-hour workshop to provide information on addiction for parents, teachers, and others working with and/or connected with youth.
The Texas Juvenile Crime Prevention Center in association with the PVAMU Houston Healthy Initiative is offering free, 2-hour workshops on a variety of topics related to substance use and misuse among teens.
There is a growing belief among adolescents that marijuana, cannabis products, and synthetic marijuana are harmless. This growing belief is likely correlated with the recent legalization of cannabis across four U.S. states and the decriminalization of medical marijuana in 23 states. In this session, participants will learn about the biological and neurobiological effects of both marijuana and synthetic marijuana. Participants will discuss the issue of harm after viewing the trends in use across globally, in the U.S., and in Texas. Finally, participants will learn how these drugs are marketed to American youth.
