Press release from the Town of Wakefield: January 12, 2021 Chief Steven A. Skory reports the Wakefield Police Department took a subject into custody without further incident or injury at approximately 6:30 p.m. this evening after he had barricaded himself at an apartment complex on Richardson Avenue earlier in the day. Wakefield Police, with the assistance of their mental health clinician and the mutual aid support of the Northeast Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC), were able to bring the situation to a peaceful resolution. The individual will be taken for evaluation and will be facing criminal charges. "We're grateful that what could have been a very volatile situation was swiftly and peacefully resolved," said Chief Skory. "Thanks to the negotiation efforts of the Wakefield Police Department and NEMLEC we were able to bring this incident to a close." At approximately 3 p.m. today, Wakefield Police were called to an apartment complex at 41 Richardson Ave. for report of a 31-year-old male suspect who had allegedly assaulted another individual, subsequently barricaded himself in his apartment, and made threats toward law enforcement.
