STONEHAM, MA — The Stoneham police and fire departments responded to a hazmat incident on Franklin Street Thursday. Emergency crews were called to the scene around 10:50 a.m. for a report of an unknown powdered narcotic. The situation was declared a Tier 1 Hazmat incident and the State Hazardous Materials Team responded. Less than an ounce of the substance was discovered and removed successfully from the home. Franklin Street and a portion of Summer Street, which intersects with Franklin Street, were closed for much of Thursday. No one was injured in the incident, and no charges have been filed at this time.
