Uxbridge Doctor Sentenced In Adderall Scheme

UXBRIDGE, MA — An Uxbridge doctor was sentenced to seven years in prison for her part in a prescription Adderall scheme. Leslie Caraceni, 58, was sentenced to seven years in prison and three years of supervised release for her part in a scheme to prescribe Adderall to people without a legitimate medical purpose, according to federal prosecutors. Caraceni pleaded guilty in August. Caraceni used to have an office in Framingham — her co-conspirator, Rene Ruliera, 52, of Southborough, pleaded guilty in August 2019. Another co-conspirator, Meghan Giacomuzzi, 37, of Whitinsville, pleaded guilty in February 2019. According to federal prosecutors, the scheme started in 2016 when Caraceni hired Ruliera and Giacomuzzi to sell Adderall prescriptions from her Framingham office. Patients would meet with Giacomuzzi and Ruliera to discuss what kind of Adderall prescription they wanted. Caraceni would then charge $200 for the prescription, prosecutors said. In total, Caraceni sold about 110,000 pills through 1,500 illegal prescriptions, according to the Massachusetts Prescription Monitoring Program.
