MEDFORD, MA — The Medford Public Schools' COVID-19 testing program administered more than 1,200 tests this week, yielding 11 positives, Superintendent Marice Edouard-Vincent said Thursday. Everyone identified as a close contact of those positive cases has been notified. Cohorts A and C, as well as staff, were tested on Tuesday, and testing was offered to Cohort B on Friday. After returning from the holiday break remote, schools resumed hybrid learning on Thursday. Edouard-Vincent said Education Commissioner Jeffrey Riley cited the district's testing program as "being on the cutting edge of public health practices that are keeping students in school and keeping them safe." "It was my pleasure to see students in Grades 9-11 in MHS classrooms today," the superintendent said in a message to families. "Your participation in our testing program is one of the steps you can take to keep all MPS classrooms safe."
