BEVERLY, MA —Robbie Rowe, a Lasell University student from Beverly, presented at the University's Fall Career Readiness Symposium in December. Rowe created and presented a special episode of Lasell Community TV "Symposium Noontime News." The December 2020 event showcased the work of Rowe and more than 150 other students in a dynamic digital format, a triumph for flexible teaching and learning amid COVID-19. This year's event was reimagined to celebrate and showcase the ties between career preparedness and Connected Learning, thanks to a three-year grant from the Davis Educational Foundation. All Symposium presentations focused on four of the National Association of Colleges and Employers' career-readiness competencies: Global and Intercultural Fluency, Professional and Work Ethic, Leadership, and Career Management. "The Fall Career Readiness Symposium showcased student work and experiences, especially ways in which students have applied Connected Learning to develop their careers through internships," said Provost Eric Turner. "The event highlighted competencies in leadership and global/intercultural fluency with an emphasis on ways our students lead and serve by example." Curry College congratulated roughly 1,000 students who were named to the Fall 2020 Dean's List. To earn a place on the list, full-time undergraduate students — those who carry 12 or more graded credits per semester — must earn a 3.3 grade-point average or higher. Beverly students who earned the distinction were: Molly Cecil, Daniella West, Hannah Robledo, Conor Hanlon, Julia Erricola and Emily Negron. Mariah Mantz was named to the Dean's List at Augustana University. The Dean's List recognizes full-time students who have a minimum of 12 credit hours with grade-point averages at 3.5 or above. (Patch is looking to recognize Beverly students who have gone on to success athletically and academically at colleges or universities. Let us know their stories at [email protected].)
