NEW YORK CITY — An inauguration like no other will unfold Jan. 20 as Joe Biden becomes the 46th president of the United States. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic and unprecedented security measures following the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol will largely scale back festivities. But for all the changes, one thing will remained unchanged — a new president, Biden, will be sworn into a four-year term of office. Here's how New York City can watch the event. What time will it be? Biden is expected to take the oath of office around before noon, according to the New York Times. The exact time hasn't been set as of this writing, but it's a good idea to tune in early. Yeah, how do I tune in? All the major networks and cable news channels will be covering the inauguration live on television. Cord cutters can also stream the inauguration online. They can go directly to the source and stream it directly from the Biden Inaugural's website. C-SPAN will also offer characteristically no frills coverage here. And, again, the major networks livestreams can be found on YouTube and their own apps. There are also online watch parties organized too. For example, the Democratic National Committee is hosting one from the Bronx. What exactly will happen? Lady Gaga, famed singer and Upper West Side woman, will sing the National Anthem. Another New Yorker — Jennifer Lopez — will also make a headline performance during the event. But the main events will be Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris being sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts and Biden's inaugural speech. Biden will then review troops and make a socially-distanced, scaled-down parade. After the ceremony, Biden's inaugural will broadcast a 90-minute prime-time special on the major networks and news channels. Called "Celebrating America," the special will be hosted by Tom Hanks and it will feature performances by Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato and Justin Timberlake, according to Deadline. Who won't be attending Departing and twice-impeached President Donald Trump.
