ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — As the coronavirus pandemic continues worsening, Rockland County's death toll hit 800 people Wednesday and 805 as of Thursday and New York State's passed 30,000. In addition to the 12 who died since Sunday, Rockland health officials were tracking 2,910 active cases as of Wednesday. They said 90 people were hospitalized with confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19. Across the state on Wednesday, 202 New Yorkers died due to COVID-19. The state's death toll now stands at 32,379. In the Hudson Valley, coronavirus test positivity rates are highest in Dutchess, Orange and Putnam counties. Test rates for the Hudson region as of Wednesday. (New York State Health Department) "New York is pushing forward to conduct more tests, add to hospital beds and make it easier to get the COVID-19 vaccine across the state, but we need New Yorkers to stay vigilant and take safe precautions as the virus is still spreading," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday. In the Hudson Valley, COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to rise.
