WESTPORT, CT — With the school located on a busy stretch of the Post Road West in Westport, the Board of Selectmen is seeking school zone designation from the state near Kings Highway School, reports the Westport News. Parents and staff at the elementary school want the designation to help slow down vehicles on Route 1; the school rests along an open section of the roadway, which has a slight bend. Vehicles often travel through the area at high rates of speed. The road previously had school zone signage, but it reportedly was not replaced following repaving and improvements.
