FAIRFIELD, CT — The case of a fatal crash involving a Stratford driver and a Fairfield pedestrian remains open months after the incident, according to state police.
The crash killed Christine McMahon, who was crossing the northbound on-ramp for Exit 21 of Interstate 95 when she and another pedestrian — a 69-year-old Meriden man — were struck by a 52-year-old Stratford man turning left onto the ramp in a Ford F-350 Super Duty, according to police.
McMahon, 69, suffered a head injury in the crash, which occurred about 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7, police said. She died two days later. The other pedestrian had minor injuries.
McMahon was born in Bridgeport, graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and worked in the dean's office at Sacred Heart University, according to her obituary. She was a talented artist who loved animals and nature.
"She touched everyone she came across with her supremely gentle, loving and genuine spirit," the obituary said. "She had a heart of true gold and a great sense of humor."
State police confirmed Wednesday the case remained open.
