STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford man accused of stabbing his mother to death last summer has pleaded not guilty, according to court records. Thomas J. Walker entered the plea Thursday, according to the Connecticut Post, which reported Walker requested a jury trial and appeared in court via video from the Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown. Walker was charged with murder after he went to the Stratford police station 5:30 a.m. Sept. 18 to report a body. Officers found his mother, Pamela Walker, dead and covered with stab wounds in her Baird Court home, police said. Thomas Walker had been a Milford resident but recently before his mother's death had been living with her in Stratford. A relative told police Pamela Walker had feared her son so much she slept with a knife under her pillow. Thomas Walker has an extensive criminal history, including convictions for selling narcotics, carrying a dangerous weapon, and, on multiple occasions, assault, according to court personnel. He was on probation for assaulting a family member at the time Pamela Walker was stabbed, court officials said. Thomas Walker also has a history of mental health issues, including a psychiatric episode in April, according to police. He is being held on $2 million bond and is set to next appear in court March 2, court records said.
