NEW LONDON, CT —A city schools board of education member is the victim of a hate crime, police say, after a "vile and threatening notification" was left outside their New London home Wednesday. The hate message and threat was left at the home sometime between 8 a.m. and 6:45 p.m., according to New London Police Department Capt. Brian Wright. The residence of the board member is in the area of Vauxhall Street near the intersections of Ledyard and Briggs streets, Wright said. Though police did not identify the victim by name, New London public schools board of education president Regina Mosley posted to her Facebook about the hate crime. Police are seeking any video or digital evidence from Jan. 13 in that area between 7 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. that shows "an individual, or individuals, walking up to a residence and leaving an item or items or engaged in suspicious activity in this area during these times is being sought from the public."
