LIVERMORE, CA — Do you have ideas for how Livermore can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for a changing climate? If you said "yes," then city officials want to hear from you. The city is currently updating its Climate Action Plan (CAP) to address the ongoing challenges and opportunities presented by climate change. According to city officials, the updated plan will create a roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. It will also include adaptation and resiliency strategies to prepare Livermore for a changing climate. The CAP update began in early 2020 and will finish when the Livermore City Council adopts the plan in Fall 2021. Until then, the city wants all members of the community to have the opportunity to play an active role in the plan. "Your participation in the open house is valued and appreciated. The project team will use the feedback you provide during this open house to develop strategies to help Livermore reduce emissions and prepare for the impacts of climate change," officials said. The virtual event will take place via Zoom on Jan. 28. Residents can drop in anytime from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. to discuss the 2020 Climate Action Plan with the project team.
