Richard Haggerty State Representative Richard Haggerty (D-Woburn) is happy to announce that he was able to help secure a $10,000 appropriation for the Woburn Coalition Against Substance Abuse (WCASA) through the state budget process. "It is always great to be able to support such an important mission in our communities, and this funding will go a long way towards continuing the hard work in reducing substance misuse and improving mental health promotion," said Representative Haggerty. "Additionally, these resources will be used to help educate students, parents, and the public about substance use awareness and prevention." "Representative Haggerty has been a strong supporter of the program since its inception in April 2015, first as President of the Woburn City Council and as our State Representative," said Substance Abuse Program Coordinator Rick Jolly. "We thank him for his continued support and all he has done for the community. The funds will be used to help educate students, parents and the public about substance use awareness and prevention. In addition, this allocation will help fund our Teens On Track summer work program." The Woburn Coalition Against Substance Abuse (WCASA) was formed by Mayor Galvin in response to opioid and other substance abuse concerns affecting the community. The Coalition promotes substance abuse prevention in Woburn through education, providing a critical support network for the community. The Teens On Track summer program for those suffering from addiction has been a major success, where each person in the program gets one-on-one attention for 15-hours a week with a supervisor.
