An exploration of the magical effects of 2nd or multiple barrel aging on American Whiskey
This class will focus on secondarily finished American whiskey. We will explore the effect on various whiskey mash bills after they have been finished in a variety of second casks from around the world. We will sample through an amazing selection of bourbon and rye whiskey that has been finished wine barrels, sherry barrels, bourbon barrels, armagnac barrels, cognac barrels and rum barrels from the Caribbean.
While this technique was first explored by the Scottish whiskey producers, our fellow American distillers are taking things to new heights!
The class will be held in The Distillery at Western Reserve Distillers. As always we have a full selection of entrees, small plates, Woodstone fired pizzas, sandwiches, wine and hand crafted cocktails for your enjoyment before, during or after the class. Class fees include the whiskey flight and instruction, all food and beverage options are available an additional fee.
