SALEM, MA — As coronavirus vaccinations began for Salem police, firefighters and emergency medical personnel this week, Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll vowed an "all hands on deck" approach to vaccine distribution to greater populations across the city in the upcoming months.
Driscoll allowed that "specifics on the program of vaccination clinics in Salem are still being finalized," but said the vaccine will eventually be available through doctor's offices, pharmacies, medical institutions and local health officials being involved in the clinics. She added that there will be some mobile operations to deliver the vaccine to people who might not be able to make it to a vaccine site.
Driscoll indicated there will also be a North Shore version of the mass vaccinations sites planned for Gillette Stadium and Fenway Park.
She said vaccinations will likely be by appointment and that medical personnel and other non-medical volunteers will be needed to set up and run the sites.
