DARIEN, CT — Darien police have learned the identities of the two suspects who broke into Middlesex Middle School in Darien on Nov. 27 of last year, authorities announced Thursday.
The department had released surveillance photos of the two suspects on Wednesday, as detectives asked for the public's help in identifying them.
Additional details were not disclosed, and if or when the two will be charged in connection with the break-in also was not disclosed.
"This investigation remains ongoing, but I can tell you at this time that the two identified suspects are not juveniles," Darien Police Capt. Jeremiah Marron Jr. told Patch Thursday.
The incident began at about 11:30 p.m. when the burglars tripped an alarm after they entered the building through an unlocked "exit" door, and "caused damage to both classrooms and windows," according to police.
"Upon arrival an officer observed two subjects walking inside the school through a second floor window," Darien police said. "The subjects were then seen running deeper into the building."
Surveillance video showed the two left the building as police arrived.
"We would ask the public to draw their attention to several particular items associated with these two suspects," police said Wednesay. "One suspect is observed using his cell phone which has a unique yellow colored case. The second suspect, who is shorter than his counterpart, is wearing a brown/orange colored hat with a rectangular shaped logo on the front."
