Description

By Chris Jennewein, Times of San Diego January 14, 2021 A brush fire near Palomar College in San Marcos has grown to about 40 acres and is threatening structures, according to the city's fire department. Evacuations are underway in surrounding neighborhoods, with flames within 50 yards from homes along Helmsdale and Kirkwall drives. The San Marcos Fire Department said the blaze is under "aggressive air and ground attack" by both firefighting helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. The fire comes amid Santa Ana winds and red flag warnings for much of Southern California. Times of San Diego is an independent online news site covering the San Diego metropolitan area.
