MONTGOMERY, IL — A man who was shot Tuesday morning while driving across the Route 30 bridge in Montgomery has died, according to police. Montgomery police on Thursday identified the man as 29-year-old Andrew Contreras, of Aurora. Police said officers were called around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday to a crash on the Route 30 bridge and found Contreras suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, police said. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Contreras' family. Amelia Garcia, who established the fundraiser, wrote Contreras "was a devoted father to his children, and he will be sorely missed by them." "All Drew ever cared about (was) his children and working hard to provide for them," Garcia wrote. The Montgomery Police Department is asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Detective Bill Novak at 331-212-9073.
