UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An Upper West Side native will sing the U.S. National Anthem for the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, otherwise known as Lady Gaga, will perform the "Star-Spangled Banner" in front of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 20, the Presidential Inaugural Committee announced Thursday. Gaga grew up on the Upper West Side, attended schools on the Upper East Side, and went to college at New York University. Joseph Germanotta, Gaga's father, has owned and run a restaurant on the Upper West Side called Joanne Trattoria for almost a decade. Bronx native Jennifer Lopez will join Gaga as the two headlining inauguration performances. I am deeply honored to be joining @BidenInaugural on January 20 to sing the National Anthem and celebrate the historic inauguration of @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris! pic.twitter.com/MfgcG3j4Aa— Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) January 14, 2021
