First Responders In Waltham Begin To Get COVID-19 Vaccine

WALTHAM, MA — First responders across the state, including in Waltham, began getting COVID-19 vaccine shots Monday. "Police officers, firefighters, EMTs and all first responders work in risky situations every day and this vaccine will protect them from COVID and the terrible illness that can come with it," Gov. Charlie Baker said last week. Police Kieth MacPherson and Waltham Fire Chief Tom MacInnis were among the first to get their first doses of the vaccine Monday at the fire station on Lexington Street. Supervisors scheduled appointments for staff during regular shifts Monday. The shots will continue this week for the town's first responders at the site. According to those who received their vaccine shot, the process was well organized and quick. "This week hundreds of first responders in Waltham will be receiving vaccinations, so we can continue providing services uninterrupted to our citizens in these times," police posted to Facebook.
