LONG ISLAND, NY — 2020 was a difficult year for education, with schools relying on online learning amid the coronavirus pandemic. So how much did educators get paid during this unprecedented year? According to the website SeeThroughNY, 34 public school employees on Long Island made over $300,000 last year. Of those, the top two made over $500,000. A Central Islip educator ranked as the highest-paid public school teacher in New York. Kevin Donovan made $509,313 in 2020, which is significantly less than the top-paid educator in 2019, James Feltman who made $657,970 as an educator in the Commack School District. Donovan made the same pay in 2019 as 2020 and was ranked as the ninth-most paid educator at the time.
