NEW YORK CITY — A spate of lucrative Trump Organization contracts with New York City could be severed in the aftermath of a mob attack on the U.S. Capitol, Mayor Bill de Blasio said. De Blasio on Tuesday confirmed the city's legal team is reviewing the contracts after a question from WCBS reporter Rich Lamb. "The President incited a rebellion against the United States government, a clearly unconstitutional act, and people died," de Blasio said. "That's unforgivable. "So, our legal team is right now assessing options. And, as quickly as we come to a resolution, we're going to have something to say. But yes, there are several contracts with the City of New York and they're all under review right now." The prospect of losing contracts with New York City is only the latest ramification for President Donald Trump after he sent a riotous crowd to the Capitol on Jan. 6 to disrupt the certification of President-elect Joe Biden's win. The pro-Trump mob overran barricades, assaulted police officers and breached the building, sending lawmakers into hiding over fear of more violence. De Blasio and other New York political leaders called the assaulted nothing less than an insurrection or failed coup. Congressional leaders heeded widespread calls for Trump's removal, by either the 25th Amendment or impeachment, and social media companies banned him from their feeds. And scores of Trump friends and business partners — from New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick to the PGA— severed their connections with him. Trump himself is famously from New York City, but has largely disavowed his hometown. But his Trump Organization still maintains prominent buildings and business ties in the city. The Washington Post reported the Trump Organization received $17 million in parks concessions from the city. Those include Wollman Rink in Central Park and the Ferry Point golf course near the East River, the Post reported.
