SUFFERN, NY — New York State police reported finding a stolen car after stopping a driver on the New York State Thruway for vehicle and traffic violations. At 2:20 p.m. Saturday, troopers stopped a 2015 Toyota Sienna van on I-87 in Suffern. During the investigation, they determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of New York City. Police said the driver, Carmelo C. Murray, 35, of Brooklyn, could not provide the owner's name. They said he did not have permission to possess the vehicle. He was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Tarrytown where he was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th degree; a Class E Felony. Murray was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Village of Suffern Court Feb. 2.
