Marlborough Schools Will Stay Remote Until February

MARLBOROUGH, MA — The Marlborough School Committee has reversed on a decision made last week to bring students back to class in a hybrid format in January. On Tuesday, the committee voted to pushed back the hybrid start date form Jan. 19 to Feb. 1, according to a message sent to parents by Superintendent Michael Bergeron. Marlborough students in grades 3 to 12 have been learning in a remote format since October when coronavirus cases began rising across the city. As of the latest update on Jan. 11, coronavirus cases were still very high in Marlborough — the city was adding over 84 cases per day per 100,000 residents, and the positive test rate was near 10 percent. The Marlborough School Committee will meet again on Jan. 26 to decide whether students will enter hybrid learning on Feb. 1.
