HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Four people were displaced by a house fire Monday afternoon in downtown Havre de Grace. Investigators determined the blaze in the 400 block of Bourbon Street started on the second-floor balcony. After a passerby discovered the fire at 4:12 p.m. Monday, officials said around 45 firefighters from the Susquehanna Hose Company responded. Smoke was showing when crews arrived, the hose company reported. Three people were rescued and all declined further care after being evaluated by the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps, according to the hose company. A little less than an hour after the fire was reported, the Susquehanna Hose Company said the fire was knocked. It caused $200,000 in damage, according to the fire marshal, who said the cause remained under investigation Tuesday. Those who lived in the three-story, multi-family home are being assisted by the Red Cross and relatives, according to investigators.
