POINT PLEASANT BORO – Point Pleasant Boro has delayed the return of courtesy busing that was scheduled to begin on Tuesday because of the coronavirus. The district has learned that a member of the Transportation Department has tested positive for COVID-19, causing a mandatory quarantine for several members in the department due to close contact. As a result of the required quarantine, some bus runs are temporarily suspended for the next week or so. Courtesy busing that was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, January 19th will be delayed until further notice, said Superintendent Vincent Smith. Contact tracing procedures have been implemented and completed. There were no known positiveexposures. Parents of students affected by the temporary suspension of bus runs will receive a separate letter from Jonathan Triebwasser, supervisor of Transportation, through Parent Portal. Parents have the option to either transport their children to and from school or notify the school that you wish to switch to remote learning until busing resumes, Smith said. The district administration has consulted with the Ocean County Health Department concerning this recent event. "I want to assure parents that, in accordance with the district's cleaning protocols, all areas of our schools and buses continue to be sanitized as per CDC guidelines with special attention to high touch areas," Smith said.
