STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Museum and Nature Center and the Avon Theatre Film Center are the recipients of grants meant to offset lost income due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Avon Theatre Film Center was awarded $22,727.25 and the museum and nature center was awarded $45,454.50 from CT Humanities' COVID Relief Fund for Museums. In total, CT Humanities, with funding provided by the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts through an allocation from the CARES Act, provided $1.5 million in grants. The funds are meant to help larger non-profit museums and humanities organizations recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding was made available to larger organizations with full-time staff and annual operating budgets of at least $450,000, with priority given to those with annual operating budgets of $500,000 or more.
