Orange Police Assist In Major New Haven Narcotics Seizure, Arrest

ORANGE, CT — Members of the Orange Police Department were part of the team that seized nearly 3 kilos of heroin, more than $300,000 in cash and a stolen firearm from a suspected New Haven drug dealer, according to Connecticut State Police. Arrested during a 5 a.m. raid of a home in New Haven Tuesday was Miguel Vazquez, 51, who state police said had been "supplying the Bridgeport area with large quantities of heroin." During the search of the house, authorities seized: Approximately $303,827.00 in United States CurrencyApproximately $22,000.00 in U.S. bank held assetsApproximately $1,208.34 in Mexican CurrencyApproximately 2.9 Kilos of Heroin15 grams of MarijuanaDrug packaging materialsA loaded 9mm Handgun with ammoA 2013 Honda CRV The investigation was spearheaded by the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Office and the Connecticut State Police Gangs Unit, with assistance from the Bridgeport and New Haven police departments. A check of the handgun found that it had been reported stolen in 2018 out of New York, according to state police. Vazquez, who is a convicted felon, was transported to Troop G for booking on weapons and narcotics charges. He was unable to post bond and was held to await a court appearance. "This is part of an ongoing collaborative effort by Detectives in the South West Statewide Narcotics Office, which is comprised of Detectives from the Connecticut State Police, Orange Police, Westport Police, and Bridgeport Police to disrupt illegal opioid distribution in the South West Connecticut region," state police said.
