Description
LONG VALLEY, NJ - The Washington Township Police's no-shave November fundraiser went so well, they put aside their razors and extra month and extended it through December.
Now that the New Year is upon us, the final tallies are in and the total for the 2020 campaign was $5,520. The Washington Township Police Chief Jeffrey Almer gave approval for his officers to participate in the event, which is used to raise money for charitable causes.
"This year the cause is near and dear to Washington Township and the Borough of Califon," police said in a statement. "A local military combat veteran is under the care of a full time health care aide, which has become a tremendous financial burden to the family."
As a result, Almer allowed members of the Washington Township Police Department to participate in the program as well as to double down and maintain the effort through December.
