Man Carjacked At Gunpoint: Hamden Police

HAMDEN, CT — A 26-year-old man was carjacked at gunpoint while he was warming up his vehicle early Tuesday morning in Hamden, according to police. The carjacking happened around 5:50 a.m. on Helen Street, according to police Capt. Ronald Smith. The man told police he was warming up his vehicle when the driver of a black BMW pulled up next to him. Two men got out of the vehicle and approached him, he said. One of the men approached the driver's side door and pointed a gun at the man while his accomplice searched the vehicle, according to Smith. Smith said the victim's vehicle, wallet and cell phone were stolen. The man was not hurt. Anyone with information is asked to call the Hamden Police Department Detective Division at 203-230-4000.
