LAKEWOOD, CO — A man who was shot and killed Tuesday by Lakewood police has been identified, officials said.
Ty Spencer Walvatne-Donahey, 32, shot at officers at least twice before he was killed, according to the Lakewood Police Department.
Officers were called around noon to a vehicle dealership near West Colfax Avenue and Garrison Street after they received a report that a man was trying to break into vehicles on the lot.
After the officers were unable to find the man, another call came in about a nearby robbery at a Safeway, officials said.
"Agents investigated and found no indication that a robbery had occurred," Lakewood police said in a community alert.
The officers then saw Walvatne-Donahey — who was described in their first call — at West Colfax and Glen Moor Drive. They went after him, and he pointed his gun at officers and fired before they shot him, according to the Lakewood Police Department.
Walvatne-Donahey was pronounced dead soon after, police said.

The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team will investigate the shooting, officials said.
