Description

CABAZON, CA — A Palm Springs man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of leading authorities on a 20-mile pursuit in a stolen vehicle, prior to crashing and attempting to make a run for it. Officers attempted a traffic stop of a vehicle reported stolen just after midnight in the area of South Palm Canyon Drive and La Verne Way in Palm Springs, according to the Palm Springs Police Department. The driver -- later identified as 48-year-old Christopher Wilson -- allegedly failed to stop. Wilson allegedly led Palm Springs police onto Highway 111, where California Highway Patrol officers took over and chased him until the vehicle crashed into a fence near Canyon Lanes at Morongo in Cabazon, police said. "Wilson then fled from the vehicle but was captured a short time later," police said. Wilson was arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle and felony evading. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries suffered in the crash. Details on his criminal record, if any, were not immediately available.
