GRAYSLAKE, IL — Two candidates running for office in Grayslake have been booted from the ballot after they did not submit a necessary form, the Daily Herald is reporting. The village's electoral board decided during a Jan. 4 meeting to remove first-time candidates Paul Skorupa, who planned to run for village trustee, and Michael Muno, who'd hoped to run for mayor, from the spring election ballot. The decision came after Skorupa and Muno did not file a statement of economic interest with the Lake County Clerk, according to the article. The document is required to be filed with the county office for those intending to run in a local election. Now, the candidates are saying they were not given fair enough warning about the electoral board meeting or issues with their paperwork, according to the Daily Herald.
