ELMHURST, IL — Missing United Airlines executive Jake Cefolia of Elmhurst is no longer considered an employee of United Airlines.
Information about Cefolia, senior vice president of worldwide sales, has been removed from the section of United Airlines' website about the company's leadership team. It is unclear when it was taken down.
A United spokesman confirmed Wednesday the company has not yet named a replacement for Cefolia.
In 2018, Cefolia replaced David Hilfman in the senior vice president's position.
Cefolia, 49, was last seen in person Aug. 6. He was seen on gas station footage taken the next day and reported missing Aug. 8.
His car was found at Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve in Lemont. Searches have been conducted at the park, apparently yielding no clues.
Elmhurst police have confirmed with Patch they were investigating Cefolia when he went missing. They have not given the nature of the investigation.
To this day, Elmhurst police have not issued a news release or a photo of Cefolia.
After his disappearance, Patch obtained the Elmhurst police report on the missing person case. According to the documents, Cefolia was drinking excessively and broke up with his girlfriend in the days leading to his disappearance. He also was said to have fantasized about going off the grid.
Three Facebook pages dedicated to finding Cefolia remain, but they have become far quieter as the search has gone cold.
With more than 2,000 members, the most active page, "The Disappearance of Jake Cefolia," has seen only a half dozen posts since late November.
