Press release from the City of Oklahoma City:
January 12, 2021
With many of the hardest-hit areas cleared out, Oklahoma City's ice storm debris pickup crews remain on track to finish their first pass by the end of the month.
City and contract crews have picked up over 60,000 tons of debris so far, with pickup totals increasing over time to more than 15,000 tons last week.
"We're about 60% finished with the first pass," said Utilities Director Chris Browning. "As they pick up speed, the contractors should be on schedule to begin the second pass by early February. We appreciate everyone's patience, because we know it can feel like a long wait."
Initial estimates of about 100,000 tons of tree and limb debris from the October ice storm appear to be on the low side.
Crews are working six days a week to get the debris cleared.
Don't mix other bulky waste items with piles of ice storm tree and limb debris. Make sure the debris is stacked away from obstructions and doesn't cover up water meters, gas meters or anything else.
Visit okc.gov/ice for more details on ice storm debris pickup. See a map of the pickup progress at okc.gov/debrismap, which is updated on weekdays.
