Like every other basketball player in the world, I always dreamed of being able to dunk. Even post-college, basketball has remained a passion of mine. Eight weeks to increase a vertical by 9 to 15 inches? I had the same doubts when I first came across it. I saw they had a 60-day money-back guarantee, so I figured that I would at least test this program for the first week. The workouts are unique in that they target the Type 2B muscle fiber (special name for jumping muscles) through intense training sessions that involve plyometric exercises. These are the same muscle fibers that contract quickly and lead to a lot of force, also known as the fast twitch muscle fiber. You have these muscle fibers throughout your whole body, but you’re going to primarily focus on developing them in your legs and core, since these contribute most to your ability to jump. In order to train these muscles, your body needs to be pushed to its limits, since they only activate when relied on as a last resort by the body. This way, you can begin to strengthen these specific muscles and use them more often to increase explosiveness and improve muscle recruitment when jumping. The 8 weeks training is made up of 41 workouts that you will have to do regularly. They include strength training workouts, static core workouts, high-impact power workouts, and ground-contact jump training exercises. For me, week 1 of the course was pretty tough. The workouts in this stage are non-intensive but you will find them hard because they will be new to your body. High-intensity plyometrics play a key role in being able to dunk. I was able to add 2 inches in just 10 days, and the gains steadily continued afterward. My only problem with it is that it's somewhat one-sided and focuses too much on one area, while neglecting other aspects that are also important for your vertical jump. If you are overweight/obese or don’t regularly exercise then this program is likely to do more harm than good. If you have a history of hip, knee or ankle injuries you should probably steer clear.
