Description
Fertile Ground Foundation (FGF) is a 501c3 nonprofit community service organization serving the Greater Birmingham Alabama area. FGF is a sponsor for the 2023 Summer Feeding Program for schools, churches, libraries, recreation centers, and summer camps in the area that provide enrichment programs and activities to its youth.
The USDA Food and Nutrition Service administers the program at the national level. Each states, Department of Education, has State Authority and oversight of its individual state program to sponsors and sites located in the eligible areas.
To be eligible: You must be organized to meet primarily to provide care for children during the summer. Eligible areas are defined as those that have 50% or more of the children in the closest school enrolled in free or reduced meals.
Program Dates: June 12th – August 4th (2023)
The National School Lunch Program provides eligibility data. Programs are offered free of charge and will be provided without regard to race, color or nation origin, sex, age or disability.
