Description

Nourish your connection with nature and the green world, through drawing outdoors. We’ll learn hands-on both the common elements of a botanical drawing, from the European tradition, and also how plants have been drawn by artists in different cultural traditions the world over. Learn how to nurture a simple practice of drawing in the garden and on the trail, how to pack light, and which drawing tools work for you. You’ll come away with the foundations of a nature journaling practice, and exercises for fine-tuning your senses for looking and drawing. No special drawing skills required! Annie is known for her encouraging and empowering style of teaching. Expect to feel more confident in your visual explorations of the natural world. Perfect for: students, scientists, artists, nature lovers, gardeners, and the curious. Drawing materials (notebook, pens, pencils) will be provided, and you are also welcome to bring your favorite pencils, pens, or small sketchbooks. Please bring a bag, pouch, or basket to hold your drawing supplies. Ticket Price includes a farm tour as well as tea and lunch made with farm fresh ingredients. I also serve locally baked bread from Fern Horn Bakery Bread and Venison Valley cheese. Please reach out to [email protected] if you would like to pay cash for your ticket. About Annie: Annie Brulé illustrates the natural world seasonally, focusing on the ecosystems and species of the Salish Sea, which is home. She works with Indigenous educators to write, design, and illustrate ecological teaching toolkits, for children through adults, and explores her mainly European heritage through language, song, and a love of biscuits and tea. Her sketchbook is filled with doodles, sketches, and colorful contributions from her two young kids. Find Annie's work at www.anniebrule.com
