Chicago Reparations - CWCRC Community Meeting with invited City of Chicago Subcommittee on Reparations membersCOME JOIN US at Malcolm X College, 1900 West Jackson Blvd on May 24, 2023, at 6:30 pm as the Conrad Worrill Community Reparations Commission, Reparations united, Community Leaders and City of Chicago Subcommittee on Reparations host our community Town Hall meeting. The purpose of this community meeting is to allow the CWCRC to continue its work educating and organizing the community and elected officials toward creating, passing and funding reparative proposals for local reparation efforts. Topic: We will discuss the City of Chicago reparations history, updates, 2023-24 plans which include mayor Elect Brandon Johnson' s, 1st 100 day robust plan for reparations, choosing a selection committee and the 37 Conrad Worrill Community Reparation Commissioners application process. Mayor Elect Brandon Johnson's - 100 Day Robust Plan: a fully funded Reparations Commission of $10 M dollars (one million dollar per year) for 10 years; Andan Office for the Descendants Of The Enslaved Africans, (title is yet TBD).This office will be similar to the structure of Office a f New Americans; Andimmediately targeting funding for a Reparative Basic Income Program that will move Black youth, from an informal economy (indirectly linked often to violence and crime) to the formal economy. Where they can earn a living wage; Andimmediately introduce the Chicago Slavery Disclosure and Redress Ordinance, replacing the non-enforced ordinance that exist currently. The new Ordinance will make it mandatory for corporations and institutions with a history of racist harms against the Black community, to either contribute to the established Reparations Fund or fund a reparative project identified by the Chicago Reparations Commission.CWCRC Commissioners: The 37 Community Commissioners will oversee reparations issues, research, design, and implementation for Chicago's 77 communities. The Commissioner will present their territorial reports to be consolidate and used to further extend our supportive efforts with the City of Chicago Subcommittee on Reparations and the Mayor. Each community will be represented by a member of that community to form subcommittees that roll up to the commission. This will allow a greater, more accurate consensus of facts and numbers to be collected in formulating a true and realistic plan, in addition to the implementation for African Descendants Reparations. VIP Guest and new members of the Commission will receive lunch and a free Commemorative CWCRC T-shirt. CWCRC commemorative Reparations T-shirt will be available to buy for $20.00. Doors will open promptly at 6:00 pm. You should be in your seat no later than 6:15 pm. We will begin programming promptly at 6:30 pm CST. The meeting is anticipated to last no later than 2 h 15 m. Seating is provided on a first come first served basis. Seating is limited; therefore, it is suggested that you purchase your tickets in advance. Check-In. A Guest list will be available upon arrival for this event. If you are not able to attend and want to transfer your ticket(s) a physical ticket must be in presented. Guest will not be permitted to attend the screening without a registered ticket. Please keep your tickets in a safe place. Social Distancing is optional and strongly encouraged.
