May is Mental Health Awareness month and we're planning big things around overall wellness in the near future. We kicks things off with a Mental Health Awareness Ryde with Brandi and Carly, followed by post workout drinks, snacks and a panel focused on how movement through exercise and improved mental health go hand in hand.
GrooveRyder, Nina Tomaro, was our inspiration for the event. Nina is a mental health advocate, and as part of her consulting work, leads marketing and communications for Mind Share Partners, a national workplace mental health nonprofit. Nina has been a champion of how GrooveRyde has helped her overcome some of her mental health struggles.
Joining her on the panel will be Dr. Adam Borland, a licensed clinical psychologist with the Cleveland Clinic. For more than 20 years, Dr. Borland has been treating adults dealing with mood, anxiety, panic, stress, and adjustment-related difficulties. He utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach to create a safe and welcoming environment for his patients. Dr. Borland regularly serves as a mental health expert and has been featured in national outlets including CNN Health, The Washington Post, Newsweek, NBC News, USA Today, Shape Magazine and Health Magazine.
Rounding out the panel will be our very own Groove Cycle instructor, Rachael Thompson, who is a Licensed Professional Counselor with her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Rachael specializes in working with adolescents who experience anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life adjustments, and much more.
Tickets are $25 plus fees. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a local mental health charity TBA. In addition, each guest will receive a swag bag full of goodies from local businesses including Sanity, Silk Body Boutique, Dr. Diana Ponsky, Nooma, and more!
