It's TIME to CELEBRATE HBCU Style! CALLING PARENTS, GUARDIANS, GRANDPARENTS, AUNTIES, UNCLES OF HBCU students and future HBCU students to create community and celebrate "WE DID IT". Attire: Rep your students' HBCU with jeans! Hosted by HBCUmom & HBCU Dad and PreCollege Solutions! Meet #theHBCUmom and #theHBCUdad! Shaemekia and Demea Jamison are two, married HBCU alumni dedicated to keeping the culture alive! Their platforms support PARENTS of current & future HBCU alumni (along with battling which HBCU their two sons, Bryce and Myles, will attend when they get older). Shaemekia Jamison is a real G.R.I.T.S. (Girl Raised In The South). Originally from Burnt Corn, AL, she currently resides in Waxahachie, TX with her husband, Demea Jamison. She is a 2003 graduate of the crunkest HBCU, Tuskegee University with a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics and uses her expertise as an engineer at Lockheed Martin. Shaemekia has always been involved in mentoring students where she went. From church, to younger relatives, to interns at her company, Shae has made it her passion to ensure students are full ~ which includes encouraging them to attend HBCUs where their emotional, mental and spiritual health can be nourished. Through her community mentoring, she has supported and encouraged more than 15 students and their families to commit to HBCU life. Demea Jamison is also, indeed Southern born and Southern bred (literally). Born in New Orleans, LA, Demea is a proud graduate of Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and is a graduate of Southern Methodist University (Dallas, TX) with a Master of Science in Systems Engineering. To make it plain, this is a household of math & numbers geniuses ~ Demea is a Lead Test Engineer for L3Harris Technologies. Demea is an advocate of community service as well. He is a PROUD member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and serves as the Vice Polemarch for the Fort Worth Alumni Chapter. Demea is an advocate for building & sustaining the health and wellness of Black men in Black families. And most importantly, ensuring Black students are set for success as they enter the yards of HBCUs across the country.
